If you are new to betting the number of different bets available can be quite confusing.

what exactly are they? We're going to be explaining some of the more popular bets and hopefully after reading this article you'll know exactly what they are and how many bets they cover.
WIN BET or SINGLE The most popular bet where you place your stake on one selection and it has to win for you to get a return.
EACH /WAY SINGLE In reality this is two bets.
Half your stake goes on your selection to win and the other half on the selection to be place.
If your selections win you get a return on your win bet plus a return on your place bet.
If your selection finishes second, then you're win bet has lost, but you will still receive a win on your Place bet.
DOUBLES This is where you make two selections to win their respective events.
If only one of your selections win, then your bet has lost and you win nothing.
If both selections win, then your return is calculate by taking your first selections odds, plus your original stake and multiplying it by the odds of your second selection.
Doubles can also be backed at Each/way and are calculated as two separate bets- a win double and an each/way double.
ACCUMULATORS When you bet 3 or more selections in different races or events this is an accumulator.
Bets can be either each/way or win and returns are calculated the same as doubles, but then you keep multiplying.
Every selection must win or be placed for you to get a return.
TRIXIE This bet consists of three doubles and one treble.
PATENT The same as a TRIXIE but single bets are also included.
7 bets in total.
YANKEE 4 selections made up of Double, trebles and a 4-fold accumulator.
Total bets 11.
LUCKY 15 4 selections The same as a Yankee, but with singles included.
Total bets 15.
SUPER YANKEE/CANADIAN This bet comprises of 5 selections, with Doubles trebles 4-folds and a 5-fold accumulator all covered.
26 bets in total.
HEINZ Made up of 6 selections, full cover of doubles, trebles and all accumulators.
31 bets FORECASTS Here you make 2 selections to finish first and second.
in the correct order.
A Reverse Forecast can also be placed with the two selections able to finish in any order-this is two bets.
A Tote version of this bet an EXACTA can be placed.
TRICAST Here you select the first three to finish in the correct order.
A combination Tricast can also be placed meaning your selections can finish in any order, but this will be 6 bets.
