Ike

• The game's protagonist, Ike, is the son of Greil, the leader of the Greil mercenaries. Ike is brash, hot-headed and a fearsome fighter. When King Ashnard and his invading armies kill Greil, Ike swears revenge, driving the game's plot. Ike starts the game in the Ranger class, but he can progress all the way to Lord.
  
  

Titania

• The female deputy commander of the Greil Mercenaries, Titania is an extremely powerful warrior and much stronger than Ike when the game starts. Yet despite her initial superiority to Ike and other characters, you may not want to use her early in the game, as she'll collect all the experience points and hinder the other characters from leveling up. 
  
  

Boyd

• Ike's rival, Boyd also possesses a bold, cocky attitude and loves to fight. He wields axes in battle and can devastate enemies with his strength and aggressiveness. Keep Boyd on the front line and let him do what he does best. However, Boyd doesn't have great defensive skills, so he can take extensive damage and may require magical healing. Boyd's two brothers, Oscar and Rolf, share many of his talents.
  
  

Oscar

• Second to only Titania in loyalty to the Greil Mercenaries, Oscar was once a Crimean Knight before surrendering his duties to take care of his younger brother, Rolf. And like Titania, Oscar is also a Paladin, a horse-riding warrior who uses lances and spears in attacks. While he can't match his brother Boyd in strength, Oscar is a versatile fighter with excellent all-around skills.
  
  

Rolf

• The youngest of the three brothers, Rolf often gets left out of combat for his own safety. As the game progresses, Rolf quickly gains in experience and abilities, maturing into a skillful archer. He will eventually develop good speed, solid hit points and superb defense. He can even team with his brothers to perform a powerful triangle attack. 
  
  

Rhys

• One of the physically weakest characters in the game, Rhys is an Innate healer, making him a valuable asset during intense battles. Rhys is also the only character who can wield Light magic. He starts the game as a Priest but can level up to Bishop. But you'll have to protect him at all times, because he struggles to survive even the simplest enemy assaults.
