    • 1). Have your Filipino spouse get a two-by-two-inch color photo taken of him or her within six months of the application. The photo must be taken against a white background.

    • 2). Have your Filipino spouse complete the online Form DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application by typing directly into the form, making sure to select "B2 Visitor for Pleasure" under the "What type of Visa" menu under question No. 30.

    • 3). Have your Filipino spouse print the completed DS-156, which must be three pages in length.

    • 4). Have your Filipino spouse download Form DS-157, Supplemental Nonimmigrant Visa Application. In addition to DS-156, the U.S. Department of State uses DS-157 to gather additional information about an applicant's background before issuing a U.S. visa.

    • 5). Have your Filipino spouse complete DS-157 by typing directly into the form, then print the completed form.

    • 6). Have your Filipino spouse schedule a nonimmigrant visa appointment by visiting the VisaPoint homepage, creating an account and then choosing a date. Your Filipino spouse also may schedule an appointment by calling 1-909-101-7878 from within the Philippines. According to the U.S. Embassy in Manila, calls placed to this number "cost 53 Philippine Pesos per minute, plus applicable provincial charges."

    • 7). Have your Filipino spouse pay the nonimmigrant visa processing fee, which, as of April 2010, was USD $131. This fee must be paid at any BDO and Citi's corporate center branch in Makati. Proof of payment must be obtained from the bank after paying the visa fee.

    • 8). Have your Filipino spouse gather supporting documents demonstrating strong ties to the Philippines. Typically, nonimmigrant visa applicants with relatives in the United States must prove to a U.S. immigration officer that there are no plans to illegally immigrate to the U.S. Some examples include, but are not limited to, documents showing proof of employment in the Philippines and family or educational commitments.

    • 9). Have your Filipino spouse attend the visa interview. Upon passing the interview, the U.S. Embassy in Manila will issue a B-2 visa. Expect to have the visa processed within a week after a successful interview.
