Opportunity Strikes In Time Of Crisis

Imagine how its like to open your eyes one morning only to be greeted by the horrific sight of all your things afloat, the very bed you are sleeping in soaked in murky flood water. You can only imagine how its like if youre not merely imagining; as in my case, it was reality in its most surreal.

After that fateful morning, Ive came up with a mantra for my every waking hour: another day, another home. I usually start my day with not just a sliver, but a whole stream of hope coursing through my veins. Although today started rather rocky as I woke up to the harsh rays of the midmorning sun coming from the bare window and was nearly left blind. At 9 oclock I was already on my toes, scampering around my make-shift sleeping quarters in the back office of a local pub. Though hours of operation dont start until late afternoon, a cleaning crew comes in early in the day to rid the place of the previous nights share of liquor spills and bodily secretions. I made a run for it, newly-acquired stuff including heavy window draping, comfy cushions, slouchy bean bags, blenders and a rusty toaster secured in the truck of one of the local movers.

In no time, I was off to a new location: my step-sisters currently empty office. Had I not been banned from our own office, I neednt squat in that empty space. How things came to be, the office-squatting issue, was all because of the office movers that had the schedule mixed up. Instead of delivering a few pieces I got from my old place of work in the dead of night, they made an unwarranted delivery in the middle of the day. Most of my colleagues including my immediate supervisor witnessed the unloading of a heavy desk, plush swivel chairs and a few utility cabinets in the unused pantry. I guess I should be thankful that my step-sister was on sabbatical for a week and Id have a more permanent place to stay. Another thing I should be thankful for is that the movers I hired also referred apartment movers, why, best for my next planned move to (and from) a clueless friends flat.

My one week was up and both my old and newly acquired belongings had to be shuttled to a good friends place in a nearby state via interstate movers. Lucky for me the long distance movers agreed to not just transport my furniture but myself as well talk about a good deal. My friend was sure taken aback to find me and my belongings on the front porch of her quaint little bungalow in Juan Luna. She would surely be more surprised when I leave with some of her house appliances, at least the barely used ones.

Now I have more than enough furniture and appliances to fill my next home. Indeed, with crisis comes opportunity.
