    • The San Diego Metro, which is approximately 20 minutes from downtown San Diego, offers guests the choice to camp in their RVs, on tent sites on in luxury lodges. The KOA also has discount tickets to the San Diego Zoo, Sea World and Wild Animal Park at its front desk. Planned activities on the property include hayrides and pancake breakfasts. The lodges come with dishes, cookware, linens and surround-sound entertainment systems. The RV sites are full hook-ups, including some with 50-amp electric services. Safari tents can also be rented. Facilities on the grounds include an entrance gate, a pavilion, a year-round swimming pool and a hot tub. Free wireless Internet is provided along with a community kitchen and bicycle rentals.

    Lake Henshaw Resort

    • The Lake Henshaw Resort in Santa Ysabel has tent sites, sites with full RV hook-ups and camping cabins on a hill overlooking the lake. Amenities on the property include a swimming pool, spa, playground for children and a grocery store with ice for sale. The resort has a clubhouse with a laundry room, table, chairs, kitchen and outside barbecues. The Roundup BBQ Grill on the resort is open seven days a week, and serves lunch and dinner. Live entertainment is offered at the grill, which also has karaoke nights. Next to Lake Henshaw is a store that sells fishing gear, bait and licenses. Group rates are available at a campground that is a little over an hour from San Diego. The resort also has discount coupons on line and boats available for rent.

    Tucalota Springs RV Resort

    • The Tucalota Springs RV Resort has four different areas for tent camping and over 91 RV sites. Situated in the foothills of the Temecula Wine Country, the resort's RV sites come water, sewer, cable TV and electric connections up to 50 amps. Recreational facilities include an outside swimming pool, a fishing pond, a volleyball court, a petting zoo, a basketball court, horseshoe pits and a sports field. Picnic tables with shade are scattered around the grounds. Guests receive free coffee. Planned activities include hayrides and campfires. Two more highlights are a store and recreation hall. The Diamond Valley Reservoir and Lake Skinner are seven miles from the campground.
