    • 1). Paint a triangle in black model paint with its base beginning at the opening beneath the propeller, extending along the fuselage and ending in a point approximately 1/3 of the way down the fuselage.

    • 2). Add a curve in black model paint above the upper radius of the triangle. This will help define the trademark curl of the P-40 sharkmouth's lips.

    • 3). Paint a thin line of red model paint on the inner edge of the black painted area. Leave a thin line of black paint showing on the outside of the red line.

    • 4). Paint a curve in red paint extending from the opening beneath the propeller and ending approximately 2/3 of the way towards the corner of the triangle.

    • 5). Paint a row of triangle-shaped teeth in white model paint extending from the inner side of the top and bottom red lines. Make the teeth nearest the propeller the largest and decrease the teeth in size as you work towards the corner of the mouth. Repeat this process on the opposite side of the fuselage.
