Panasonic TX-P50VT50B Review
The TX-P50VT50B is one of Panasonic's flagship plasma TVs for 2012 with a fantastic spec and picture quality.
It's seen as the successor and next model up to the highly praised TX-P50GT50B so let's see what makes this television one to consider.
The VT-50 range has an Infinite Black Ultra filter which, coupled with a 2500Hz Focused Field Drive, delivers outstanding black levels and image quality.
You get a Duel Core Pro4 Processer allowing super-fast web browsing and use of Smart TV apps.
Panasonic's Viera Connect offers a strong selection of internet content including Facebook, BBC iPlayer, Twitter, Netflix and YouTube.
The layout is neat and navigation is straightforward.
The Panasonic TX-P50VT50B excels in the picture department with clear pictures and smooth motion.
Vibrant colours combine with detailed, deep blacks giving excellent high definition pictures using the Freesat HD or Freeview HD tuners.
Blu-ray discs offer similar fine pictures and the TV's built in up-scaler also greatly improves any standard definition content you decide to watch.
Two pairs of active-shutter 3D glasses come with the Panasonic TX-P50VT50B and they both communicate using Bluetooth instead of infrared.
They are light and comfortable and provide good quality 3D images.
It also offers 2D to 3D conversion, seen on many 3D TVs these days, and does a great job.
Connectivity is well catered for on the TX-P50VT50B with a quartet of HDMI inputs plus scart, component and composite connections.
A trio of USBs and an SD card slot allow you to access pictures and music from portable media.
You get integrated wi-fi or can use the ethernet port if you prefer.
This TV is also DLNA certified so you can view photos and files from other laptops, PCs and tablets in your network.
You get two remote controls; the standard Viera one and a Viera Touch Pad Controller.
This gives you a touch sensitive control that works really well when moving around the interface and also as a scrollable cursor when browsing the web.
Flatscreen TVs rarely excel in the sound department but the TX-P50VT50B performs better than most when it comes to acoustics.
Naturally, a soundbar or home cinema system would improve things but it's certainly up there with the best of them sound-wise.
Bass and treble is adjustable with several preset modes for you and feel free to play around with the virtual surround sound if you get the urge.
The TX-P50VT50B is yet another excellent plasma TV from Panasonic with a spec you're struggle to find on other TVs.
