The reason they were so popular was because they were able to outrun all the other brands sold.
There were over 20,000 bikes that were being sold to the military and were being used in the war.
No one was surprised when in 1918, Harley Davidson became known as the largest manufacturer of motorcycles and bikes.
From the year 1940 to 1945, consumers were very unlikely to able to purchase any Harley Davidson motorcycles as this was nearly impossible with the bikes selling out as fast as they were being made.
The company had also signed a contract with the United States military and this was causing a delay in the bikes being able to be bought in the local dealers.
When 1950 came around, the company was having a hard time as many of the different consumers had already went and purchased other brands of bikes as they grew tired of waiting for the Harley Davidson motorcycles to be sold in the retail stores.
By 1957, the company was back on top and was introducing the Sportster model.
