Don't be one of the people who jump into starting their house cleaning business before they review and learn about their state laws.
Here is a list of a few things that you should pay attention to before starting a house cleaning business: 1.
Learn about the law in your state Many states require you to get a license in order to operate a house cleaning business in the state.
There are states that will also ask that you take certain classes before they'll issue a business license.
A lot of cities will also require a payment (monthly, twice a year, yearly, etc) to maintain your house cleaning business license.

Insurance is extremely important Regardless of it being required buy law or not, you should consider it before starting a house cleaning business.
A person may take advantage of you by saying that an item is missing from their home.
Even if you think it will never happen, it may and you are taking a risk if you don't have insurance.
Its also good to have insurance in case anything was to break.
You never know.
So, insurance is very important to have when running a house cleaning business and some laws do require it.
3.
Document everything Its said to at least keep all your documents for at least seven years.
These include any contracts, receipts of purchases, proofs of payments, etc.
These should be kept in a very safe place in case you need them.
Even if you think you may not need them and that they're taking up the space, keep them.
You never know, IRS may question anything on your tax returns that doesn't make sense to them and it may come back and haunt you.
So just be safe and hold on to them in a safe place.

Business account Get a business account and if you aren't able to, a separate personal account will do.
Meaning, its used solely for your house cleaning business.
This is to track all your business transactions, money coming in and coming out.
This account should be used for your deposits, purchases of cleaning supplies, paying helpers, etc.
By having a separate business account, it will make it much easier at the end of the year when its time to prepare for filing tax returns.
5.
Respect the customer even if they're not satisfied It doesn't necessarily mean that the customer is right.
If a customer says that they aren't satisfied, try to satisfy them to your best ability.
Remember, an unsatisfied customer is much more likely to spread the word than a satisfied one.
