A very practical method for cleaning an area rug quickly is by using a vacuum cleaner.
Vacuum the top of the rug.
Then turn the rug over and vacuum that side.
Vacuuming the underside will loosen more dirt from the top.
Finish carpet cleaning by vacuuming the top again.
Should you be fortunate enough to have more time on your hands then you can use a bit of liquid to clean the carpet more thoroughly.
In one spray bottle combine one cup warm water and ΒΌ teaspoon dish washing liquid.
Then get another spray bottle and fill it with only cold water.
Unlike other carpet cleaning methods do not spray the dish washing solution on the carpet, spray it on a rag.
Next dab the dirty areas on the carpet with the rag containing the dish washing solution.
Once the stain starts to break down blot it with a clean cloth.
Keep repeating the procedure until the area is clean.
To rinse out the detergent, spray cold water on a rag and blot the recently cleaned area with it.
After that, dry the area with a clean cloth.
