Trying to check Obamacare facts

In March 23, 2010 the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was signed into law by President Barack Obama. This law is the principal health care reform legislative action of the US Congress. Know everywhere as Obamacare, PPACA reforms some aspects of private health industry and public health programs. The facts of this law include increasing insurance coverage of pre-existing conditions and expanding access to insurance to over 30 million Americans.

All Republicans in the Senate voted against this law. At the House of Representatives, all 178 Republicans and 34 Democrats voted against too. Individual persons, organizations and a majority of states are challenging its constitutionality. Obamacare is a polemic and controversial law and its future is uncertain.

But, which are the Obamacare facts? We will try to check them one by one, to discover if they are myths or reality. These are important topics that anybody should forget:

- As massive reductions in Medicare payments will happen, many retired Americans will stay without medical care. These cuts in Medicare due to this law will make 7.4 million older people lose their coverage.

- Companies, workers and their families are facing higher costs, with big troubles to afford the new taxes on insurance, medicines, medical devices and investment. The risk of Obamacare are that these costs will pass directly to employees or customers, and this could be increase unemployment. Some Democrats say this is a myth. We think this is an inevitable and logical Obamacare fact.

- Doctors faced a 23% cut in payments in December 2010. This is because Obamacare fact didn't fix the payment formula for Medicare physician. Medicaid pays doctor 56% of what they would earn in private practice and its one of the most popular coverage. Will de doctors able to continue serving Medicaid population? Under this law and the Obamacare facts, doctors face more rules and federal government reporting requirements, leading with the cost and inconvenience to practice medicine. So if the doctor's practice is in risk, who will work to support Obamacare facts?

- If Obamacare facts where all a myth, there wouldn't be so many states in opposition. Almost all states led to the federal government to the judges. These states want to declare as unconstitutional the provisions of Obamacare facts, because they are required to expand their Medicaid programs and establish health insurance specialist systems designed at the federal level. Also the patients will have to buy insurance or else be fined. In this case, the law becomes weak an inconsistent, due to the low support from the states.

- Finally, federal tax payers are the victims: this law added a trillion dollars in federal spending. It also created new rights to benefits really expensive for extended care and insurance subsidies. Obamacare placed half a billion dollars in new taxes over the next decade. This Obamacare fact could finish with the middle class, and that could be a catastrophe.
Of course there are other politic positions around Obamacare facts. But it is no doubt that Congress should pass a law to repeal Obamacare, because many society sectors are against. There are lots of things to change before 2012, where the US elections will take place.
