    • 1). Register for a website designed to help with tracking food. Most sites have a wide variety of foods listed, with the calories and nutritional values already entered.

    • 2). Carry a notebook with you when you go out to eat or are out and about and liable to eat snacks. Write down anything that you eat, no matter how small.

    • 3). Note down what you eat as you eat it, so that you don't forget to track it later on.

    • 4). Enter the food you've written down into the online food tracker at the end of the day. If you're at a computer for most of the day, and able to access the internet, feel free to enter food into it as you go and skip writing it down by hand.

    • 5). Take note of any patterns you find when tracking your food, like if there are particular times of day that you tend to overeat or if you eat too much after skipping a meal. Make changes based on what you find.
