Do You Really Need a PR?

You may very often see press releases advertised on SEO firm websites, but are unsure of what benefits come from such an investment.
PRs, by the individual article, are pricier than a series of article.
You may be wondering, why should I spend the extra money on PR writing and submission (which costs extra) if I am mainly using it for link building purposes? Let's first get the most obvious benefits out of the way: branding, traffic increase, credibility increase and sales promotion.
PRs reach an audience much like SEO writing and article marketing does.
The main difference is that press releases are only "live" for about 30 days.
Unless they are posted on your own website, they will disappear.
The fact that your press release will eventually disappear shouldn't discourage you from reaching that new audience while you have the opportunity.
Every second of branding counts.
More importantly, press releases appeal to a "live audience", the type that search for local, nationwide and worldwide news.
You do still need to target your keywords carefully, but when you do that you are pitching your company announcement to potentially millions of people.
Upwards of eighty million people get their news from online news collecting agencies, such as Yahoo and Google.
Did you know that the big stories you see on major search engines and famous websites like CNBC and MSN actually get a percentage of their news from smaller or local media outlets? Unlike TV news, Internet news rewards the most timely and well-written news information.
There is not a hierarchy; the most relevant news appears at the top of the page and at the top of the keyword search.
With press releases, which are considered "news worthy material", you might also benefit from viral reporting, and have one of your stories get picked up by a major publication.
Last but not least, establishing a good business relationship with local and nationwide media contacts is always beneficial.
Using press releases for web marketing is an entirely different avenue than SEO, PPC and article marketing.
However, it is a profitable new venture you should not neglect.
