Log Cabin Kits - What Are They?

103 5
Log cabin kits sounds like a strange concept, doesn't it? It sort of sounds as though you could expect a giant box of Lincoln Logs (does anyone out there remember that old toy?) and a whole mess of glue, right? Well, aside from the glue thing, that there isn't too far off from the truth - these kits are made from pre-milled logs that are uniformly shaped from naturally insect repellent cedar, and come pre-notched and shaped for perfect fitting.
What are some other benefits of these kits? Well, for one thing, log cabin kits have cost effectiveness.
Due to the fact that each individual log is pre-milled in a sort of assembly line factory setting, this creates an inordinately low per-log cost...
the lowest in the market.
This is one of the main reasons that the majority of all log structured presently being constructed are being built from log homes kits.
Whether the end result will be for a home, a commercial business building, a hunting or fishing retreat, or for a guest house, these kits are the way to go.
But there is a misconception about log cabin kits, and that's the image of many homes all looking alike as though squeezed out of a tube on an assembly line.
This could not be farther from the truth in the least.
The whole "kit" idea is in the milling of each individual log - that's where the uniformity exists.
Because of this, there is a huge versatility in the ability to build along countless designs and plans.
All pieces arrive numbered in order of construction, so piecing one together can take just weeks, not many months.
