The best sweet 16 birthday party ideas aren't just an "off the shelf" theme that could fit anyone.
It's better to put on your thinking cap and come up with something unique and special to the birthday guy or gal.
Here's a unique 16th birthday party idea that is fitting for any sixteen year old who loves sweets! This idea can be used for most any age group, it doesn't have to be limited to a 16th party, but it makes a special theme for this age because it really puts the "sweet" in sixteen! What you do is choose a specific candy that is their absolute favorite.
In this article I'm going to use M & M's because I know two twins who's names both started with the letter M.
Their combined nickname was of course, M & M! I helped plan the event and we decided to make it an M & M sweet 16 party.
You Should consider mixing this idea up to match your girl or boy's favorites.
If the guest of honor for your party loves a different brand of candy, go for it! First of all I decided to use basic M & M candies with the bright primary colors.
I used them as the starting point for the entire theme, which meant bright, solid-colored decorations.
I used 32 bright helium balloons tied randomly throughout the living room and dining room combined.
I then used streamers in the same colors along side the balloons.
I formed a type of canopy with the streamers using a ceiling fan as the center (ceiling fan turned off of course).
I found inexpensive M & M figurines, and placed those throughout the room.
I filled bowls and bowls with the candies and used them also as a type of confetti.
I scattered M & M's on the dining room table, coffee table and end tables, anywhere with a flat surface.
You could literally eat your way through the room! At this point the room was totally colorful and very festive.
I finished off by baking huge sugar cookies with M & M's and putting them on the dining room table along with a birthday cake with the M & M logo in icing which matched their initials.
I decorated the cake with more M & M's.
We also came up with a few silly sweet 16 poems that were puns on the double M concept.
We turned it into an activity at the party where everyone recited one of the poems to both of them.
They had everyone laughing all over the place! This was one of the most colorful and festive parties I've ever helped do.
It has also been their favorite.
So consider a candy theme for your upcoming event.
It can be a lot of fun!
