Staying in Santa Barbara: Finding the Right Hotel

103 20
On a visit to Santa Barbara, the hotel you pick is every bit as crucial to your enjoyment of the trip as the attractions you visit while you're in town.
Ask yourself each question on this list before booking any reservations.
  1. Are you traveling with a group? Some Santa Barbara hotels have excellent group discounts available while others are too small to cater to large groups.
If you're looking for a hotel that can hold an entire wedding party and their guests, not only do you want a hotel that rewards you for booking a large number of rooms together, you also want a hotel that will impress your family and friends and make their stay comfortable.
If you're in town with a group of wine aficionados, consider Hotel Corque: wine is this hotel's main theme.
  2. Are you just passing through? If you're just traveling through Santa Barbara on your way to somewhere else, you have to pick your hotel carefully.
Because this is a tourist spot, many hotels can be expensive and you don't want to be paying for luxuries you don't need.
Choose a small motel on the outskirts of town and away from beach views if you don't want to pay extra.
  3. Are you traveling with a pet? If Fido is along for the ride, you definitely want to pick a hotel that's dog-friendly.
Plenty of Santa Barbara hotels give consideration to your furry friend, so just search until you find a place that only charges a low fee for your extra room guest instead of a large non-refundable deposit.
  4. Are you planning on eating there? There are a wide variety of hotels with restaurants attached, so do your research first.
Many hotels in the area are also conveniently located by popular restaurants if you're willing to take a quick jaunt across the street.
Even better, you may find that the classier hotels have affordable room service!
  5. Are you in need of any special accommodations? If you or someone traveling with you is disabled and need parking near your room or a room that's handicap accessible, almost all hotels should be able to provide this.
Make sure to call or e-mail the hotel you're thinking about staying at before you book your room so that you aren't scrambling to find another place at the last minute.
