How to Clean a Mattress?

We all love to crawl into a clean bed and snuggle under the cover for a great night's sleep.
A bed just seems to sleep better if it is clean.
This means clean sheets, a clean mattress cover, and a clean mattress.
Some of you may wonder how to clean your mattress.
Actually there are several things you can do to ensure that your mattress stays clean.
You always need to keep a mattress cover on top of your mattress.
This will help protect the mattress from leaks and spills as well as sweat.
You can take your mattress cover off the mattress and throw it in the washing machine once a week or so to get the maximum clean effect.
Another way to keep your mattress clean is to keep fresh, clean sheets on the bed at all times.
If you have animals that sleep on your bed you might want to change your sheets about twice a week.
Keeping the sheets clean will also help to protect your mattress cover and your mattress surface.
About two to three times a year you should also flip or turn your mattress to keep the correct shape.
When you sleep in one position all of the time your mattress tends to get out of shape.
You may notice that you have an indention in the area you sleep.
By flipping the mattress you will be sleeping on a different sleep surface and this will help you get more life and use out of the mattress.
And now let us talk about those disgusting dust mites that love to live inside your mattress.
Dust mites are in every home and if left unchecked they can literally make you and your family sick.
Covering your mattress with a cover will help with the problem but it will not entirely eliminate the problem.
Dust, dander and dust mites can be removed from your mattress with your vacuum cleaner.
By using the upholstery attachment you can eliminate practically all of the dust and dander from your mattress.
This is something that should be done frequently to get the best results.
Dust mites tend to borough down into the mattress if left alone.
You should vacuum your mattress at least once a month.
If you suffer from allergies you might want to consider vacuuming one a week.
With clean sheets, a clean mattress cover, and weekly vacuuming you will be able to keep your mattress dust and dander free.
If your mattress becomes soiled you can use an upholstery cleaner to clean surface stains.
If your mattress is extremely soiled you can use the upholstery tool on your carpet shampooer to both clean and disinfect.
If you do this you might want to consider cleaning it early in the morning and leaving it uncovered throughout the day to allow it to dry.
Most carpet shampoo machines will suck out most of the moisture but it would need to dry thoroughly before you replace your mattress cover and sheets.
Keeping your mattress clean will mean a better night's sleep and less problems with allergies.
If you do this on a regular basis you will be able to keep your mattress clean and fresh for many years.
