The IRS doesn't care how old you are. They will take as much as they can. Unless you're Tim Geithner. The IRS will tax you to death. And if you're as young as I am you're fearful the IRS will be taking half in taxes soon enough. And what do you really believe social security will have for you when you make it to retirement. I'm sure whatever is actually there will be long gone when I'm in my golden years.

So my friends, this means you better start planning you retirement soon. In fact you need to start planning your retirement today. Because after Tax, tax, tax you might not have much left unless you plan now! After all retirement is your last vacation! You might as well make it a good one!

  • FACT: Roughly only forty-two percent of our population has sat down and figured out
just how much they need to save for a comfortable retirement.

  • FACT: Today's American citizen typically spends eighteen years in retirement.

  • FACT: It appears a majority of Americans retirement will fall severely short of
    expectations.

With these three facts in mind it might behoove an individual to take a lengthy look and make sure one is prepared to plan their retirement, let alone retire. If nothing else you might consider the needs approach. This means; will I/we have a mortgage?, how much do I/we need monthly for expenses like groceries, utilities and upkeep for things like the home or car(s), what will I/we need for recreation, and how much would I/we need for medical expenses or other various emergency type of costs that can just pop up.

Remember...... Saving will be the only thing that saves you! That means putting away money for retirement should be a habit not an idea!
