Credit Card Debt seems to strike everyone; the young, old, rich, poor, white, black, educated and uneducated.
The traps, snares and bait used by the advertising gurus to lure people into amassing massive amounts of debt has worked.
They succeeded at overwhelmingly persuading most Americans that its impossible to live without credit card debt.
But that was before our economic meltdown.
Thankfully, many Americans are waking up from their financial slumber and seeing the light.
Which is, you can live without credit cards! The path most people take when dealing with credit card debt, is to wait until it gets beyond their ability to pay more than the minimum payment.
This is when things began to get dicey and the domino effect kicks in.
When a person spirals down to only making the minimum payment, they send a red flag to ALL of the credit card companies they have accounts with.
This alert causes a number of things to happen: (a) They get slapped with a mind-boggling rate increase.
It is normal for a person whose rate is 9.
9% to be jacked up to 20% or higher.
(b) Their accounts are frozen.
This prevents the cardholder from making any new purchases.
(c) If there is any available credit left, it is wiped out.
For example, if their credit limit was $7500.
00 and they had an available credit amount of $3900.
00.
Their available credit is immediately reduced to ZERO! This scenario takes place everyday to more people than you would ever imagine.
That's why you must attack credit card debt before it attacks you! Now help me answer this rhetorical question.
If an individual could just B-A-R-E-L-Y afford to make the minimum payments on all of their accounts, what's going to happen when all of their payments are jacked up? The normal course of action is PANIC! They usually start frantically grabbing at the first available solution.
The problem with that methodology is, a person must be able recognize the various traps unscrupulous people and rogue companies setup to take advantage of people who are in financial trouble.
If not they will end up complaining to their Attorney General or Better Business Bureau because some debt relief company took their money and did nothing.
