Green Living: Some Basic Tips
There is no doubt that the world is moving too fast.
However in its bid to go fast, it is leaving mother earth behind.
There is no doubt that saving the earth is a collective responsibility and that the blame for all the damage that has already been caused falls on us as humans.
But that does not mean that we as individuals do nothing and just let Green Peace or the government do all the work.
There are various steps that we can take in our own individual capacities to make sure that we are practicing green living and contributing to the environment.
Here I present some going green tips to help you get started.
Again, there is so much we can do that it is difficult to know where to start.
I guess I should start with the simplest method.
It is true that what we do on an individual level does not seem to matter much, but what is important is that if we all start to contribute in a small way, in our own capacities, we can be ultimately be sure that the end result will be much larger.
In fact we would be making an impact on a global level! Talking about cars, we tend to have a great fascination with them! But unfortunately there is a great environmental cost associated with them.
They tend to consume fossil fuels, in this case oil, and due to the high numbers of cars especially in the countries where there is almost 1 car per every person, the overall fuel consumption becomes immense! We all know that this usage of cars can be decreased and there are various ways to do this.
Travelling to and from work no doubt constitutes a great part of our daily travelling and if we could car pool with a colleague, this would cut down a great deal of our fuel needs.
Similarly, we should make it a habit of travelling as a family.
However this might not be possible due to a fragmented nature of Western society.
Secondly, we could fulfill our travelling needs by walking.
Small distances like going to a nearby store can definitely be achieved through making a light stroll.
Not only are we serving the environment, but are also benefitting out health since walking is great exercise.
We can also try a bicycle for intermediate distances.
This is in fact quite fun.
