Where to Donate Items, Supplies to An Animal Shelter in Brooklyn
Love animals? Make a cash or charitable contribution in kind, by donating things that residents of animal shelters can really use.
What You Can Donate:
Top of the list are thick blankets, new or gently used bath size towels and toys. You can donate kitten food and milk, dog and cat treats and specific kinds of canned dog food. Or, laundry detergent and dishwashing liquid. Check here for updates.
- Medical Supplies and Equipment: Useful donations include digital animal thermometers, baby scales for cats and rabbits, tick and flea meds, but not OTC. )
- Miscellaneous Animal Supplies: As any pet owner knows, even pets need furniture and gear. Bring in feral cat dens/holding boxes, thick blankets/towels, cat litter, disposable feeding trays, animal nursing bottles, wire free-standing cat condos, wire dog crates (large and extra-large sizes).
- Animal Toys. They need toys too! For cats: mylar crinkle cat toys, plastic lattice balls, fuzzy mice, pipe cleaners, stretch & scratch packets, feather teaser toys, plush toys. For dogs: hard, hollow rubber toys (i.e. kongs), boingo and biscuit balls strong rubber squeaky toys, and sturdy plush toys.
- Everyday Supplies: Housekeeping, the daily chores of living. Bring in rolls of paper towels, laundry detergent and dishwashing liquid.
Where to Take Your Animal Donations
The City of New York recommends that you bring your goods to the following location (there are others in other boroughs):
Where: Brooklyn Animal Care Center, 2336 Linden Boulevard, Brooklyn, NY 11208
Shelter Hours: 8AM - 8PM, 7 days a week
Adoption Hours: Noon to 7PM, 7 days a week except certain days.
Please check the website for special training days when the facility is closed. These vary by month. Standard holidays include:
