Tips on Taking Good Pictures on Those Special Occasions
We want to capture the special moments and keep them "alive" to re-live at a later date.
We try, and try again, but each time, they just don't seem to turn out as good as we would like them to.
Here are a few tips on what to do to get those "wow" pictures on special occasions.
· I always use a zoom lens for special occasions.
This way I can get group shots as well as some good close up shots of my subjects.
A zoom lens also allows me to get those really good candid shots.
You know, those pictures that your subject is not posing for! Sometimes the candid shots are the best.
These are the ones that will bring back the laughter when you look at them years from now.
· As I am sure everyone has seen, when you have a child pose for a picture, you get the phony smile.
If you will stand back with your camera and zoom in on the child while they are playing with their toys or with another child, you are going to get a much more natural picture of them.
Use the option on your camera to take more than one picture at a time.
When you hold down the shutter button, it will take 2-3 pictures.
More than likely you will get at least one good picture of the batch.
Be sure you use a flash or fast shutter speed, as they will probably be moving around.
· So many times you want to take someone's picture, but they are busy or in a crowd or just not in a good place to get a good shot.
Before you start taking pictures, look around for an open door or window.
This spot will give you some good natural light.
When you have a subject or subjects near the window, zoom in for your shot.
Be sure that you are standing at an angle from the window or door, so the bright light from the window is not in your shot.
Your camera will pick up the bright light and the rest of your picture will be too dark.
· Another good idea is to set up a chair in a particular place that has good lighting and a good background.
Keep your eye on that chair.
Each time someone different sits in the chair you can get a good picture of them.
That may be a good time to ask grandma, to come sit down for a while and visit with the grandkids.
You can have the kids come over and sit in grandma's lap one at a time.
· Try to get as much light in the room as possible.
Keep the curtains and door open if possible.
Turn on all the lights you can.
This will keep you from having to use your flash all the time and becoming that annoying relative that is always flashing them in the face.
I hope these tips give you some great pictures during your special occasions.
Remember not to get too wrapped up in taking pictures.
It is a special occasion, enjoy yourself and get in a few pictures yourself!
