How to get a UK Marriage Visa
- 1). Gather information for the UK spouse. The British Home Office will ask for all sorts of sensitive information. I strongly recommend the following: Application form, passports, letters of support, proof of marriage, spouse's finances (bank statements) and employment (CV/Resume), and evidence of financial support from a relative. To protect your information, insert all documents into plastic sleeves and store the binder in a safe place.
- 2). Gather information for foreign Applicant. You will need the applicant's passport, finances and employment, high school diploma and college degrees(if any), letter of accommodation, proof of relationship and Fiance Visa evidence. At this point, a Fiance Visa should already have been obtained and should be well documented in the binder. Again, to protect your information, insert all documents into plastic sleeves and store the binder in a safe place.
- 3). Double-check you have everything. Proof of relationship can come in many forms. Some examples are print outs of early emails, birthday cards, phone bills, plane ticket stubs, and or past flight plans. Also recommended is a Timeline of travel to provide proof of meeting each other. The more evidence you send, the better your chances.
- 4). Post/Ship your application and binder to a British Embassy in a FedEX or UPS shipping box. There are three embassies in the US: Los Angeles, New York and Washington. If the embassy finds any discrepancies or confusion with your application or the contents of the binder, you may be requested to come for an interview at either the LA of NY embassy. Save enough money for a plane ticket and be prepared to fly if an interview is required. If the application is accepted, you may receive an email confirmation.
