The Costa del Sol has been nicknamed in recent years the Costa del Golf. The reason for this being the number of courses that have been built in this particular part of Spain. Within a small radius of the town of Marbella visitors to the area have access to around 50 different courses. All of which are able to cater to the needs of golf players of various skill levels.

Although a lot of players like to visit the area during the spring, summer and autumn months, this area is now become popular with golfers from across Europe in the winter as well. The reason for this is that the temperatures here are pretty good throughout the year plus on average this area of Spain gets around 300 days of sunshine each year.

For the more experienced players there are courses such as Valderrama that they may want to experience. This course has been the venue for the 1997 Ryder Cup competition as well as in 1999 and 2000 the World Golf American Express Championships were held here. Also every year the Volvo Masters Tournament takes place at this particular course. So it can prove a very challenging course indeed.

As a result of these events taking place here the game of golf has been taken to new heights on Spain's Costa del Sol. This is because more and more players from around the world are choosing to come here and try the courses out. As a result much time, money and effort has been spent on developing some really superb courses.

However if you are someone who hasn't been playing this sport for very long but are looking for a challenge there are numerous courses suitable for you to try. The courses that you may want to consider visiting include Monte Mayor, San Roque along with La Cala, Lauro Golf and Malaga Parador del Golf.
