How to Get Over Your Fear of Fighting to Become a Mixed Martial Arts Winner

Well yes you may be the worlds next greatest fighter, you may have even been in hundreds of fights already and never gotten hit.
However though the reality is that if your MMA career is going to last any length of time, no matter how good you are you will no doubt run into a few opponents who will land some serious blows on you.
And sometimes the winner in a fight ends up being the one who can take the most damage and wait for the right opportunity.
There are some fighters who even seem to just love being hit and some like Forrest Griffin or Chris Leben just seem to get better once they have taken a few good hits.
But if this isn't you then how do you get over your fear of fighting to become a MMA winner.
You may either be afraid of being hit, which just won't fly in the octagon - it is actually a foul to be timid or avoid your opponent in a UFC match.
Some may also find their fear makes you freeze and not be able to think straight, preventing you from fighting.
I guess the most logical way to get over your fear of being hit is to get into a few bouts, take a few punches and just get used to it.
Surely the fear of being hit is a lot worse than actually being hit (at least in most cases).
Of course being over confident can be seriously dangerous and you should never underestimate an opponent.
If you have ever sparred or trained with others I am sure you will have found it true that size does not necessarily mean someone hits harder.
You could always even take a lesson from the movie Fight Club and go and purposely get into a fight where you know you are going to lose.
Not that it is recommended, but it should certainly help break the barrier of being worried about taking a beating.
To get over freezing up and thinking, just continue training and sparring.
You will develop muscle memory which enables your body to react instinctively without needing to think.
Also training to release your energy explosively on demand will help you move forward and attack even if fear is kicking in.
These types of exercises may include laying prone on the floor and jumping up to attack or standing with your eyes closed and being attacked unexpectedly.
