How do I Build a Toddler Theme Bed?
- 1). Purchase a plywood board at a building supply store. The piece can be any size you like, depending on how big you want the headboard to be, but 4 feet by 3 feet is a good medium-size headboard for toddler beds.
- 2). Lay the board flat on the floor, and draw the themed shape onto it, depending on the motif the toddler's room is decorated in. For a princess theme, draw a castle. For a pirate theme, a boat shape. For a sports theme, a helmet. For a farm theme, a barn.
- 3). Cut out the shape you drew with a hand saw. Sand down the entire board with sandpaper, removing any rough spots and splinters, and carefully going over the freshly cut edges.
- 4). Paint the board with colors that match the theme of the bedroom. Use pastels for a princess castle, primary colors for a farm or sports room, or browns and grays if you're making a pirate room. Let dry.
- 5). Pull the toddler's bed in the center of the room, and nail the board to the wall where the head of the bed goes. Push the bed back in place so it is flush against the wall and the new headboard.
