Two Towels, One Bucket, One Sponge, and 27 Years of Hard Work

Yes, we live in the greatest nation ever created in the history of mankind, and I can prove it.
You see, I was able to start a business at age 12 washing airplanes at the airport.
I started out with two towels, one bucket, one sponge, and built my business through reinvesting the profits.
The business grew and grew, and eventually it got large enough where I had to franchise it.
Over the years I had franchised my business in 23 states, 450 cities, in four countries.
Sometimes people say; wow, that's quite successful.
Of course, it didn't happen overnight, it took 27 years of hard work.
One thing that bothers me today as I see many startup entrepreneurs, as they do I little bit of consulting on the side, who come to me and expect to be superstar entrepreneurs and wealthy business people right out of the gate.
They see success stories in the media, magazines, on social networks, and in the online news.
There are also success stories on television, which promotes the American dream.
That's all well and good, and I too have read over 100 biographies of successful entrepreneurs and industrial capitalists over the years, all significantly more successful than I.
And the one take away from all that reading is this; the reality is that it is hard work, and it takes time, and kids today are far too impatient, and think they're going to make millions of dollars off some scheme they dream up on the Internet.
It just doesn't happen like that, and this is not to say that it can't happen, it can, and people also win the lottery as well.
But what I'm saying to you is that winning the lottery in the future is not a good financial strategy to save for your retirement.
If you're not willing to put in the effort, and get with the program, you don't deserve to be a successful entrepreneur, and if you get lucky, and become a successful business person in that way, you are liable to lose your money because you don't respect your wealth, or you aren't wise enough to know how to keep it.
As I look back now, I smile, at those early days, and I realize how much hard work it was.
I also realize how much I deserve it, and how upset I am when a politician decides they want to tax me into oblivion.
Or when a politician starts some sort of class warfare in order to get reelected.
It just isn't right.
And yes, it's not a perfect world, no one said life would be fair, and no one promised that everything would be right all the time.
But in this case, I am right, and I hope you will please consider all this from a philosophical perspective.
If you aren't willing to put in what it takes to get it done, then you don't deserve it, and chances are you will not be able keep it anyway.
Indeed, I hope you will find something that you are passionate about in your life, and make it your business, and overtime win the game.
But it's not going to be easy, it's not going to be free, and you are going to need more than just luck.
Think on it.
