Since When Did it Become Politically Incorrect to Speak the Truth?

Although we have laws in our country to guarantee free speech, it seems that our speech is being stifled at almost every turn.
There is far too much political correctness going on in both the virtual world and the real one.
If people can't talk about certain subjects, then those topics don't get discussed, and communication breaks down.
Then what you have is underlining paranoia between various groups of people, and therefore they don't trust each other.
If everyone just spoke their mind, communicated, and were able to figure out where they were wrong, why they are wrong, and thus, re-adjust their observations and points of view.
The other day I was at Starbucks, and I got on the subject of political correctness with a fellow patron while he sipped on his latte.
So, I asked him, "Since When Did it Become Politically Incorrect to Speak the Truth?" My acquaintance said, "oh probably since Galileo suggested the world was round, and Copernicus stated the Earth revolved around the Sun, not the other way around.
" That's pretty funny isn't it? So apparently, political correctness can come from many different places, as it tends to support the status quo at the time in the society or civilization of the era.
Some things were not allowed to be said back in the old days, and today we have the same problem, albeit different kinds of things.
So I guess the reality is it's always been politically incorrect to speak the truth.
Nevertheless, I would ask you maybe that's why mankind hasn't progressed very far.
Oh sure, we have jet airplanes, bullet trains, and automobiles now, we even put a man on the moon, but when it comes to a reality check and how we get along in our society, truth has always been hidden from view, and we haven't come very far at all.
Certainly we can do better than this, but only if we will speak the truth and admit we have a problem with political correctness, not only in our country but, it seems to be a problem throughout the world.
If we can't solve these problems in the "here and now" all we do is push the problem out into the future.
It's almost like building a bubble in the economy until it pops.
We hide truth as long as we can, until we just can't hide it anymore, and then we deal with it all at once.
It causes terrible commotion, when we should have been dishonest with ourselves and each other all long.
Indeed I hope you will please consider this philosophical thought and think on it.
