For Greg, a male nurse, it was about to be one of the happiest days of his life.
He had arranged for his girlfriends class to spell a message to her asking her to marry him.
While the students are setting up, Pam tells Greg that her sister just got engaged and her fiancé got the OK from her father.
Greg cancels the whole thing with the students so that he can ask for her father's permission.
In no time, they are riding in a plane to visit her parents.
Little does Greg know, this is about to be the worst vacation he has ever taken.
The airport loses his bag and he is barfed on by a baby in the claims office.
He also finds out that he cannot smoke the entire time he is there.
They arrive at the house and Pam tosses his cigarettes on the roof.
Pam's father begins asking strange questions like who picked the color of the rental car.
Greg will soon find out that Pam's father used to be in the CIA when he is hooked to a lie detector.
Since the airport lost his bags, Pam's father takes him to the store where they have a little heart to heart.
Greg is accused of smoking pot and not liking cats.
Once at the store Greg sees Pam's father trading things in the parking lot.
Something is going on.
The next day the whole family is invited to Pam's ex-boyfriend's house since he is the best man in her sister's wedding.
This is very uncomfortable for Greg especially when they start talking about how much fun each other were.
Everyone also wants to play volleyball in the pool.
Greg is loaned a Speedo from Pam's ex and he accidentally breaks her sister's nose by spiking the ball in her face, the day before the wedding.
The next day the wedding is being set up and Greg still hasn't talked to Pam's father yet.
Now is probably not a good time since the septic tank just broke its contents on the lawn.
Greg crawls on the roof to smoke when the family cat goes to visit him.
He hears Pam's father taking Thai to a man on the phone and dropt his cigarette.
It falls into the gutter and the leaves catch fire.
He quickly tries to stomp it out but instead the gutter falls off and knocks the power line from the house.
This causes the lawn to catch on fire and the cat to run away.
Also, Greg's suitcase is delivered to the house, but it is not his.
Instead there is a bunch of black leather clothes.
Pam's father goes though it since he has a lock pick.
