For most fathers, witnessing his daughter get married is a dream come true. But then again, it also marks the painful and quite difficult step of entrusting his daughter to another person with the hope that this man will love and take care of her the same way he did over the years. Now while it is traditional for the father of the bride to make a wedding speech during a wedding, some still find it a bit stressful and nerve-wracking. It's good, though, that there are father of the bride speeches free that one can easily refer to. Take a look at this.

To begin your father of the bride wedding speech, you should make sure that you include a short and warm greeting to your guests. Introduce yourself as the bride's father and welcome them to the celebration. Here is a good example of an introductory line: "Ladies and gentlemen, I wish you all a pleasant afternoon! Since some of you are wondering who I am, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you as the father of the bride. I stand here today to formally welcome you all in this celebration and to thank you on behalf of the newly wed couple for being here."

"And so, to our family, friends, and relatives – thank you. Thank you for finding the time despite your busy schedules to join us here as we witness my son and daughter-in-law's love for each other made stronger in the bond of marriage. We know that a number of you even had to sacrifice some things – work, and perhaps, the inconvenience of travelling long hours – just to be here. For that and more, we are truly grateful."

Once you are through with welcoming the guests and thanking them for their presence, you may then address the bride and the groom and share with them bits of your wisdom. Take a look at this example: "Ladies and gentlemen, wisdom, they say, comes with age. That I have. And so, to the bride and the groom, as well as to all young couples who are listening, I wish to impart with you some words of wisdom. There is no secret to a happy marriage, and there is no such thing as a perfect relationship. To get to that happily-ever-after that most of us dream of, you will have to work on it. Work on your marriage together, and do not give up on each other. That's how all relationships survive."

"With that being said, here's a toast. To the bride and groom!"
