You have done all the hard work (so you think!), you have built the website, optimised for your keywords and are receiving bundles of traffic.
But, and it is a big but, you aren't making any money! This is a real problem for a big number of website owners which have done all the right things, but are still struggling to make ends meet.
Here we will discuss some ways that we can improve your conversion rates for your website.
First impressions count.
Apologies for the cliché! However this is very true.
Get honest impartial feedback on how your website looks.
Whilst you may think it is the bees knees, do other people.
This can have a serious impact on how well the website converts.
People need to feel comfortable with the way in which the website is constructed and also the impression that this creates.
What type of people are you appealing too? Consider this whilst putting together the content and also the format of the website.
If you are appealing to a younger audience it's probably fair to include more colour and animation, whilst this may frighten away an older audience! Have a clear sales process.
Make it easy for people to do whatever it is you want them to do.
If this is buy your products or services, provide a clear and concise reason why they should.
If your website is a "brochure" site, make sure it has the required look and feel.
If you are selling a high end product, your website needs to "feel" right.
Unfortunately this normally means spending money, but if you only need to sell a couple of a certain item then in my opinion it is worth the investment.
For lots of websites their most valuable asset is their list of customers or subscribers.
I would recommend that all website owners have some kind of a list which they communicate with as this can build a relationship between your business and your subscribers, which over time can generate sales.
There has been lots of research into how websites should be laid out, generally the opinion is that you should not include the price of the item which you are selling above the "fold", where the website goes below the screen.
You should always have your opt in box above the "fold".
This will then maximise the opportunity which you present yourself with.
There are lots of views on how best to optimise websites.
I hope this has helped!
