Cats are inherently compelled to climb; cat trees give them something safe and durable to do so on.
Another strong feline instinct is the urge to hide away from the outside world; many cat trees are designed to give a cat a nice, safe place to hide.
This is especially appreciated by felines living in households with children or dogs.
Cats instinctively seek high ground so they can easily survey everything going on around them; cat trees give a cat a high place they can comfortably spy from.
Cat trees can save a pet owner a lot of money by directing the above feline behaviors away from valuable furniture in addition to making the cat happier overall.
And because of these, we can show to our pets that they are loved and being take care of.
