Blossom

• Blossom is the red-headed Powerpuff Girl and is the leader of the group. She is more thoughtful and mature than her sisters but can also be overly fussy and overbearing at times. In certain episodes of the show, she has shown the ability to breathe both ice and fire at her enemies. Blossom wears a pink dress with a large red bow in her hair. She is voiced by Cathy Cavadini.
  
  

Bubbles

• Sporting yellow hair in pigtails and a blue dress, Bubbles is the sweetest of the three Powerpuff Girls. She is the most childish of the group but is still able to hold her own in a fight. Blossom has shown the ability to rapidly understand languages and to communicate with animals. She also occasionally uses a "Sonic Scream" to defeat enemies. Bubbles is voiced by Tara Strong in the original series and by Kath Soucie in the "What a Cartoon!" episodes.
  
  

Buttercup

• Buttercup is the hot-headed tomboy of the Powerpuff Girls, sporting black hair and a green dress. She has a more serious personality than the other girls and is quicker to jump into a fight. This trait often gets her in trouble through her rash actions. She does not seem to have any additional powers to set herself apart from her sisters but is stronger and faster than them. Buttercup is voiced by Elizabeth Daily.
  
  

Professor Utonium

• Professor Utonium is an adult scientist who created the Powerpuff Girls by mixing sugar, spice and everything nice with the mysterious "Chemical X." He teaches micro-nuclear fusion and quantum physics at the Townsville Research Center. He serves as a father figure to the girls, caring for them as his own daughters. Professor Utonium is voiced by Tom Kane.
  
  

The Mayor and Sara Bellum

• The Mayor is the dim-witted and often incompetent leader of Townsville. He is a tiny man wearing a top hat and monocle, along with his purple suit and walrus mustache. The Mayor is often overwhelmed by the pressures of his office, forcing him to rely heavily on his assistant Sara Bellum. Sarah is a tall redhead whose face is not seen onscreen and is typically portrayed as the one who actually runs the city. The Mayor is voiced by Tom Kenny, and Sara Bellum is voiced by Jennifer Martin.
  
  

Mojo Jojo

• Mojo Jojo is the archenemy of the Powerpuff Girls. The villainous monkey was once Professor Utonium's lab assistant and was directly responsible for creating the Powerpuff Girls when he knocked the professor into the jar containing Chemical X. The resulting explosion caused his brain to greatly increase in size, increasing his intelligence beyond that of a common monkey. Despite this intelligence, he is consistently thwarted by the girls in scheme after scheme. Mojo Jojo wears a purple cape, blue tunic and a large white helmet covering his brain. He is voiced by Roger L. Jackson.
