3 Basic Steps to Weight Control

Weight control is a huge industry that catches the latest trends and runs with them.
Although there are exceptions, the vast majority of people are overweight because of 3 reasons..
...
1) They consistently eat more calories than they burn 2) They eat foods that their body does not digest efficiently 3) They don't drink enough water Let's look at these 3 points from my perspective - a very active 50 year old who has been basically the same weight for 35 years.
Point 1..

I look at each day separately and decide what I need to eat to support the activity level for that day.
For example, tonight I am going on a 2 hour extreme high calorie burn mountain bike ride.
I know that I have to eat early, then at mid day to accomplish what I need to do.
Lots of fresh veggies, carbs and protein during the day with fruit as a snack.
I will have my last meal at 2:00 pm with a banana and some almonds as a snack at 4:00, 2 hours before the ride.
Looking at each day separately I know that it is highly unlikely that I will gain as I customize my food intake based on what I know my body needs.
Everyone is different, however if you start to look at food from this perspective it may help.
Point 2..

I make it pretty simple.
If it's not plant or animal I stay away from it.
Eating highly process junk that has little natural stuff left in it only makes me feel sick.
It also strains the body to digest as it is basically a man made chemical compound made to taste good.
My meals consist of foods as close to the source as possible.
Here's proof, eat a bag of chips and see how you feel 30 minutes later.
Energized? Now eat a salad, 30 minutes later you will feel good.
That's all the proof I need.
Point 3..

People drink a lot of liquid daily but unfortunately it is highly sugared pop or juice and not water that our body longs for.
High water intake keeps the system working properly and aids in flushing out any junk that we have inhaled or eaten.
I know that I need to hydrate all day so that my cells are totally plump with water before I hit the trails on my ride.
I drink a lot of water everyday, never soda or high calorie drinks.
I challenge you to trade 1 soda a day for a glass of water and start your weight loss challenge with just this simple step, add a glass of water every other day and take out a sugared drink and you will be amazed at how you feel.
