How to Donate a Junk Car to Charity in Houston, Texas
- 1). Donate your car to the Helping Hands Charity of Houston, Texas. Helping Hands accepts junk cars as long as you have the title and a set of car keys. To make the donation, call 713-456-9407 or fill out the online donation form (see Resources). Helping Hands will arrange to have the car towed at your convenience. Once the junk car is sold, you will receive a donation receipt for the fair market value of the car.
- 2). Call 877-374-7036 to donate your junk car through Houston Charity Agency. You may also use its online vehicle donation form (see Resources) to begin the donation process. Your junk car does not have to run, but it must contain an engine. An agent will set up a date to have your car towed. You must present a signed title, but keys are optional. Houston Charity Agency issues a tax receipt after the car sells in the amount of the sale of the car.
- 3). Contact Donation Line, an accredited business with the BBB, to donate your car in the Houston area. You can fill out Donation Line's vehicle donation form (see Resources), or you can call 877-227-7487. Donation Line not only accepts vehicles that no longer run, but it also accepts vehicles that have been totaled. A representative from Donation Line will arrange for the towing company to pick up your junk car. Let them know which Houston charity you want to receive the proceeds of the sale of your car. All you need is a valid car title, and Donation Line will take care of everything else. A receipt will be mailed to you once the car sells.
