The New Versus Old Debate

So here's a debate that my designer friends have been having.
It's easy to see the pros and cons of each side.
However, of course, I have on certain opinion on what I think is best.
Perhaps you can give your opinion on the following: new vs.
old.
Many graphic designers are well-rounded from print to web design.
However, its easy to see which is the trickier of the two to make.
Web design may come easy in time, but there are a lot of bells and whistles involved in an ever-growing area of design.
Web trends change daily, as does coding languages.
It's a job just to keep up with what is constantly going on.
That's why many designers take the easy route: old.
By old, I mean using something that is not a brand new concept such as a template.
Many designers now are using templates to create clients' websites.
They take the images needed, plug them in and maybe change-up the color scheme a little.
Its quick and easy work for quick and easy money.
It happens often.
Its said, "Why fix it if it's not broken?" or "Why create something new when there's already something present?" I see these points.
I understand that some believe there is no need to make something new when the tools have already presented themselves.
I disagree with them.
This is how I feel about the subject.
You are getting paid by a client as a graphic designer.
Key word: designer.
Your client is paying you to create something that they can not.
This means you should give your client a good project not only because it's the right thing to do, but also because it's what your client paid for and expects.
I feel that each project I do show cases my talent for the next potential client.
So why not do my best work to win over the hearts of many? It may take longer to build a website from the ground up but its worth all the effort.
Your client expects the best, so why give them less? I know many will agree with my opinion and disagree.
What is yours? Let the debate begin...
