“My Whole Life Is Thunder”

Jenna is upset that Liz got married and stole the thunder from her own surprise wedding, so she attempts to sabotage Liz’s appearance at an awards ceremony for women. Jack’s mother comes to visit and nags him as usual about how she won’t be around forever, but this time she actually dies of a heart attack. Liz and Jenna make up, but Jenna stages her surprise wedding at Jack’s mother’s funeral.

Kenneth is depressed that Hazel broke up with him, and Tracy tries to cheer him up by making his life more like a TV show.

“Game Over”

Hank Hooper is about to retire, and he tells Jack that he plans to appoint his granddaughter Kaylie (Chloe Moretz) CEO, while Jack acts as her proxy until she’s old enough to take over. Jack teams up with Devon Banks to take down Kaylie, and when Devon betrays him, Jack reveals he knew all along, and still manages to destroy Kaylie in Hank’s eyes. Liz goes on fertility treatments to try to conceive, but decides that she might be willing to adopt an older child instead. Tracy deals with insane, Tracy-like behavior from Octavia Spencer, the star of his biopic about Harriet Tubman.

“Florida”

Liz travels to Florida with Jack (who’s just been named Kabletown CEO) so he can wrap up his mother’s affairs, and they discover that the supposed caretaker she left all her money to was actually her lesbian lover.

With Liz gone, Jenna and Tracy are in charge of TGS, and they have to deal with a lawsuit from Hazel claiming harassment. When Kenneth refuses to sign an affidavit saying that there’s no harassment at TGS, Hank Hooper decides to cancel the show as his last act as CEO. That comes at a terrible time for Liz, who’s just agreed to adopt two young children.

“A Goon’s Deed in a Weary World”
Original Airdate: January 24, 2013

Liz has one final chance to impress the Kabletown board and save TGS, but no one on the staff is putting in any effort to help her. The twin brother and sister that Liz and Criss are adopting are on the way, but Liz has no time to prepare to meet them. Finally the staff realizes that Liz needs to let the show go, and they all quit so that she can leave and meet her kids. Now CEO of Kabletown, Jack needs to pick a new president for NBC, and he sets up an elaborate scheme that ends up appointing Kenneth the new president.

“Hogcock!”

With TGS off the air, Liz is now a stay-at-home mom, but it’s driving her crazy. Criss gets a job as a receptionist at a dentist’s office, but he misses being at home with the kids. Finally they realize that Liz needs to go back to work, and Criss should be a stay-at-home dad. Now CEO of Kabletown, Jack decides that he needs to achieve true happiness, but despite meeting all the happiness goals he sets for himself, he still feels empty. Jenna tries to find a new career direction following TGS, and when she fails at TV drama and motion pictures, she decides to return to Broadway.

Episode 13

“Last Lunch”
Original Airdate: January 31, 2013

Thanks to a clause in Tracy’s contract, the staff has to return to produce one final episode of TGS. The writers spend the whole time battling with Lutz over where to order lunch, Tracy nearly sabotages the production because he doesn’t want to say goodbye, and Jenna struggles to find genuine emotion to infuse her final performance. Realizing his life is empty, Jack quits his CEO job, and Liz worries that he’s going to kill himself, but he really just wants her to realize how much she appreciates him. He decides to take a long boat trip to find his happiness, but immediately returns when he gets a great new business idea.
