  Fifteen ball is a variation on the standard pool game. Like eight ball and nine ball, the game's name provides a hint for how to play. Every ball, from one through 15, is fair game at any given time for any player. This differs greatly from other variations of billiards games. Fifteen ball can be a little confusing at first, but once you have an understanding of the rules, you'll be playing like an old pro.
  
  

Object of the Game

• In 15 ball, players try to rack up as many points as possible. The first player to achieve 61 points or more wins. Each ball is worth its number in points; the eight ball, for example, is worth eight points.
  
  

Racking the Balls

• Place all 15 balls in the racking triangle in random order at one end of the table, with the front corner ball placed over the white dot. Place the cue ball at the other end. For the first game in a series, players should decide who will break the rack. After the first game, the winner of the previous game will break the rack.
  
  

Game Play

• On every shot, players must land a ball in a pocket to keep his turn. If a player does not pocket a ball, it is the end of his turn and the next player must go. A player's turn keeps going as long as he sinks his ball in a pocket.
  
  

Fouls

• When a player lands a cue ball in a pocket, he has committed a foul. Whenever players commit a foul, any pocketed ball must be retrieved from its pocket. The fouling player has the duty of placing this ball upon the table's white dot, also known as "spotting."
