Finding a Home Business You Are Passionate About
Personally I believe that in order to be happy one has to have a passion, something to live for, to get up for in the morning.
Many people however feel that they don't really have much interest in anything and they simply need extra money which is why they need to start a home business.
While I can understand this - work, life, children and our many responsibilities can really make us forget the things we are (or were) truly interested in.
However with a home business with no deadlines, no boss on your back, procrastination can kick in.
If you never really had much interest in your chosen business chances are you will not realize your full potential in that business and when the going gets tough you will give up.
I think it can really pay off to sit down and devote a little bit of time to work out the things that really matter to us.
Sit down, get a pen and write it all down.
Just about any passion can be turned into an income, so brainstorm away without judgment.
- What do you like to do in your spare time? - even if it's just watching TV or reading books, it still counts.
- Were there any hobbies you use to enjoy doing? Even if it was when you were a child.
- What do you talk about with your friends? - What's on your bookshelf? What magazines do you buy? You may find a pattern emerging and your interests becoming clearer.
I think part of the key is to not think of your interests as trivial or silly.
Take them seriously and see where they take you.
Find a mentor, someone who is doing something similar to your interests.
Read blogs on the topic, visit discussion forums.
Within a short time you will start getting ideas on the kinds of home businesses that are right for you.
