Big vs. Little: Choosing Your Used Car

If you've decided to buy a used car you are already on the right track - buying this way will save you lots of money, and probably allow you to get a car that is just as good for all intents and purposes. You are not, however, done from a decision making perspective as you will need to decide what size of car you are after. Indeed, it is up to you whether to get a big car or little one.

Big cars are fast falling out of fashion yet they certainly have their purposes - vehicles like Land Rovers, minivans and full size vans are perfect for families with lots of children, indeed, you will be hard pressed to cram 6 kids into a regular coupe! People who use their vehicles for work will also need something a bit bigger, especially if they need to cart around a lot of equipment or building materials; in these instances it might even be worth considering a pick-up truck. So if you are tempted to get something smaller, be sure to consider what you use your car for as you don't want to get something inconveniently small.

If you don't have any particular demands for your car and just need something to get from one spot to another, then you should opt for a zippy little vehicle. The most important advantage of these is there fuel efficiency as you will be able to cut your petrol costs - this is particularly important these days as oil prices are through the roof. Getting something smaller could really save you a lot of money. Little cars are also great for city living as they can fit into tiny parking spots and let you zip through congested traffic in a way that eludes the SUVs of the world. Small cars are also a lot cheaper, so you can buy one without having to delve too deeply into your savings.

After deciding what size of car you want, you will need to figure out whether you want a used VW for sale, a Mini, or a roaring Land Rover. Yet figuring out what size of car you want is half the battle as you will be able to narrow down your targets. Thinking about this should also help you figure out what you value in a car, this will make it so much easier when it is finally time to pull the trigger and buy your used car.
