A Family Builds an Outdoor Fireplace Kit
My mom has decided that a family project is what we all need to bring us around, and re-establish our unity.
I hate it when she does this! Moms can be such a pain.
This time, she is sending away for one of those outdoor fireplace kits.
Now, there isn't one person in our family who is remotely capable of reading graphics.
I told her this.
All I got back was the "look" that all wayward children have come to know and fully appreciate.
Okay.
On the surface of it, having an outdoor fireplace would seem really cool.
It would be nice to have friends over because our house is just too small.
There never seems to be space for privacy.
It's not that I want to avoid my family.
I just want to avoid feeling as though I'm under a microscope all of the time.
I'm sure that you can appreciate this.
A constant pressure between parents and their children.
Well, to make a long story short, we all decided upon a working budget for the project.
All of us agree that unity is best maintained when you aren't starving for lack of essentials ! This was a process that actually made some sense to me and my younger brother.
Speaking of my brother, he has reluctantly agreed to research what is available online for outdoor fireplace kits.
We have also decided upon a southwestern style.
So, adobe it will be.
I have spoken to a few of my friends about this most recent project initiated by my mother.
I have been surprised at their reactions.
Some of my friends have told me stories about life in their homes.
I don't have it nearly so bad as they do.
I sort of invited them to my place, to help out in the construction of the fireplace.
A couple of them actually have some skills in the do-it-yourself department.
I passed this all by my mom who was happy with this "plan of inclusion".
She so drives me nuts sometimes.
I say this to her, she smiles at me, and life goes on!
