Starcraft 2 - The Strengths and Weaknesses of Zerg
So you are thinking about playing Zerg in Starcraft 2? Well there are a few things you should know first, each race has it's strengths and weaknesses and I'm going to show you what is good and what is not so good about playing Zerg so you can make an educated choice when choosing your race.
Zerg is a very fun race to play because they are designed to be a mass-producing type of race.
Unlike Protoss and Terran a Zerg player needs to have a constant stream of units being produced and sent into battle.
The Terran and Protoss races are all about making the best units to counter whatever they are fighting.
Zerg is like this as well but not to the degree that Terran and Protoss are.
We have fewer choices when it comes to units but we are setup to pump out units much faster.
Of course this requires more minerals and gas then the other races so a Zerg player must be expand early and often in a game which makes it more complicated and chaotic then with the other races.
Zerg has a weakness defending against an air attack early on in the game so this has caused us problems on battlenet recently but there are things we can do to help with this.
We also have weaker air attack units then the other races.
Mutalisks are good at scouting but do poorly in battles against good anti air units so we mainly use ground units for the large attacks.
Overall I love playing Zerg but they are hard to learn and you must good at managing the chaos which is just part of playing the Zerg.
However, if you get the hang of playing them is very rewarding as there is no better feeling the sending your mass hydralisks and roaches to dominate your opponent!
