Headlight Problems in a 1994 Ford Aerostar Van
- 1). Turn off the Aerostar's engine. Remove the two screws that attach the headlamp trim to the vehicle using a screwdriver. Remove the headlamp trim.
- 2). Remove the four screws that attach the headlamp to the vehicle. Pull the headlamp away from the vehicle, and tug lightly on the electrical connector. If it comes out, firmly plug it into the rear of the assembly. If your headlights continue to malfunction, you may have an issue with the bulb.
- 3). Disconnect the electrical connector, and pull the headlamp out of the vehicle. Unsnap the bulb-retaining wire, and carefully remove the bulb assembly from its socket by gently pulling it out. Insert the replacement bulb into the socket.
- 4). Snap the retaining wire over the bulb. Reattach the electrical connector, and place the assembly back into the vehicle. Reinstall all four screws to the headlamp assembly. Place the headlamp trim back into its initial position, and fasten it by tightening the two headlamp trim screws. If the headlights are still malfunctioning, the headlamp fuse may require replacement.
- 5). Open the driver's door, and locate the fuse panel underneath the steering wheel. Open the panel, and locate the fuse numbered "4" in the upper right corner---the exterior light fuse. Check to see whether this fuse is broken by inspecting the metal rod inside the fuse. If it no longer remains in one piece, you must replace the fuse.
- 6). Pull the broken fuse out with your index finger and thumb, and replace it with a new, identical fuse. The headlamps use a 15-amp fuse.
