How to Remove an Old Oil Filter From a John Deere LT155
- 1). Warm up the engine by running the mower for a few minutes. Park the LT155 on a level surface. Open the hood. Clean the area around the oil dipstick, oil filter and oil drain valve with a rag. Place an oil pan under the oil drain valve.
- 2). Remove the drain cap on the end of the oil drain valve. Release the drain valve by pressing in, turning to the left, and pulling out. Drain all oil from the crankcase.
- 3). Place a rag or pan under the oil filter. Unscrew the oil filter counterclockwise with your hands or a wrench. Put a thin film of oil on the rubber seal on the new oil filter. Screw on the new oil filter clockwise until it touches the base. Screw an additional 1/2 turn--do not over-tighten. Clean the area around the oil filter with a rag.
- 4). Close the oil drain valve by pushing in, turning to the right, and allowing it to come out a little. Press the drain cap onto the drain valve. Remove the oil filler cap and fill with oil. Replace the cap, close the hood and recycle your old oil.
