New Movies: Jun. 4-11, 2012
This Week: TV | Film | Video | Trailers | Paperbacks | Hardcovers
Out in cinemas this week: A trip to the wrong end of the universe for answers about humanity's origins leads to a terrifying battle for survival; a bunch of destructive war machines try to wipe us out here at home; and some wisecracking beasts try to get home via the back roads of Europe.
The question swirling urgently around Prometheus has always been, can Ridley Scott, with the benefit of longer experience and expanded moviemaking technology, possibly expand on the awesomeness of Alien and Aliens? The answer is yes.
The story: A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.
Starring: Noomi Rapace (Elizabeth Shaw), Michael Fassbender (David), Charlize Theron (Meredith Vickers), Idris Elba (Janek), Guy Pearce (Peter Weyland), Logan Marshall-Green (Charlie Holloway), Sean Harris (Fifield), Rafe Spall (Millburn), Emun Elliott (Chance), Benedict Wong (Ravel), Kate Dickie (Ford), Patrick Wilson (Shaw's Father), Lucy Hutchinson (Young Shaw).

From the trailer, which seems like a demo reel for a CGI explosives expert, one would be justified in thinking that Neil Johnson is quite keen on the whole wiping out humanity thing.
The story: In the year 2012, an Alien invasion comes and destroys civilization on Earth, and feeds off of humanity. During this time, a small group of survivors decide to band together and form and armed resistance force to oppose the Aliens, before humanity is literally wiped off the face of the planet.
Directed by: Neil Johnson (Alien Armageddon).
Starring: Brooke Lewis, Iva Franks Singer, Tiffany Martin, Cynthia Martin, Ifeyinwa.
As gangs-of-animated-wild-animals movies go, the Madagascar movies are not as unctuous as wary parents might expect.
The story: Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman are still fighting to get home to their beloved Big Apple. Their journey takes them through Europe where they find the perfect cover: a traveling circus, which they reinvent - Madagascar style.
Directed by: Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath, Conrad Vernon.
Starring: Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, David Schwimmer, Jada Pinkett Smith, Sacha Baron Cohen, Cedric the Entertainer, Andy Richter, Frances McDormand, Bryan Cranston , Martin Short.
