Using Preventative Measures to Reduce Crime

Nobody wants to experience a burglary.
Imagine having your belongings gone forever.
In addition, no one wants their family endangered in any way.
There are a number of things you might want to check up on, such as your home insurance and the inventory of your personal items.
However, you could save yourself all the trouble by simply taking preventative measures to reduce crime.
If you happen to be someone who would leave a key near the entrance of your home under a potted plant or doormat, realize that you have just loosened up your home security.
Many burglars know that a lot of us hide our key somewhere at the front door-that is the first area they check for any way to get in.
Simply avoid this and you can easily reduce crime in your community.
Next, lock up! This may seem really obvious but have you checked not just your doors but your windows as well? Are they properly shut, especially at night or when you're working? Replace any lock that has been damaged.
You may even consider getting a watch dog.
A burglar is less likely to choose your home over another if you have a dog that could easily draw attention by barking when trouble is detected.
Finally, install cameras outside your house in strategic locations where they can monitor all of the exterior entry and exit areas.
You could even have the cameras visible, as this can actually reduce crime in the neighborhood and your chances of a home intrusion.
