    • 1). Keep your car clean. Extra weight will slow your car down. You may want to take out your spare tire to get rid of the weight, though you'll be taking a chance. Some people will actually recommend removing parts of the car but that's entirely unsafe.

    • 2). Maintain you car. Keeping your tires inflated and rotated will help the performance of a car. Keeping the car up to date and doing regular maintenance will help keep the car running well and avoid unnecessary slow downs. Keep your fuel systems cleaned and change your oil regularly.

    • 3). Make improvements on your car. Using high octane gas and premium equipment such as platinum spark plugs will improve the performance and power of your otherwise inexpensive car.

    • 4). Install after-market modifications. You can add a cold air intake to replace the stock version and get more intake to help improve speed. This will add more noise to the car. You can also exchange out the exhaust system for a bigger exhaust, which will improve speed as well as increase noise. There are laws that regulate the exhaust system because of noise and emissions, so you will need to check with your state to make sure you are following the law.
