Indoor water parks are great option for family getaways, especially during the winter months when kids have been cooped up indoors for weeks on end. There are several options within driving range of Indianapolis to consider. When researching indoor water parks within a few hours drive of Indianapolis, I stumbled upon the Abe Martin Lodge. The lodge boasts a small indoor water park as one of its amenities.

I recently stayed at the Abe Martin Lodge and in my opinion, this is one of the best deals going. My recent visit cost about $95 a night and included the water park wristbands.

The Main lodge has 30 guest rooms, a unique gift shop with two comfortable lobbies and a restaurant. Lodge rooms include two queen size beds and includes four wristbands for the water park. There are 54 rooms in the Annex building, along with 20 housekeeping cabins and 56 rustic cabins on the premises. Guest room prices vary per day of the week and season, but it's always a bargain, compared to other hotels. The rooms are clean and the staff, friendly.

The indoor water park is perfect for families. It isn't huge but does boast a fairly tall slide (and fast), a zero entry splash zone for little ones, a hot tub area, a lazy river and a volleyball and basketball area. What I particularly liked about the aquatic center was that I could see it all at once. I could float down the lazy river with my toddler and still keep an eye on my five year old as he went down the slide (over and over again).

It was comfortable and kept the kids amused.

If you can get your kids out of the pool, Brown County State Park has a lot to offer guests in itself, depending on weather. Activities include a nature center, horseback riding, fishing, ice fishing, hiking trails, mountain bike trails, tennis courts, open fields, picnic grounds, playground equipment and a swimming pool. Nature lovers will delight in the beautiful rolling hills, wildlife and foliage.

The Abe Martin Lodge is located on the outskirts of Nashville, Indiana - a small town known for its small boutique shops, artist colonies and tourism. Spend the afternoon shopping in Nashville or enjoy a meal at one of the town's unique restaurants.

I highly recommend the Abe Martin Lodge for a weekend getaway. While Indianapolis has tons to offer, sometimes it's fun to get outside the city. This trip is a great alternative to an expensive family vacation and is sure to delight the family.
