With the Indian automobile market swarming with commuter bikes, consumers have a choice to choose from manufacturers like Hero MotoCorp, Honda and Bajaj. Out of the foremost competitors in the commuter segment, the home grown bike manufacturer, Bajaj is filling the gap which Pulsar left with the launch of a new series of bikes - the Discover series of bikes. The Discover series has acquired lot of attention in the commuter segment with its fuel efficiency and high performance for affordable prices.

The Bajaj Discover 125 has been designed to give the Indian commuter more power and it has certainly seems to be working.

The Bajaj Discover 125 is the motorcycle, that Bajaj claims, that started the 125cc segment in India. This bike shares nothing but body panels with the original. What it is supposed to do is to bridge the gap between the smash hit Discover 100 and the successful Discover 150. All three are frugal, cheap and offers decent performance.

There is only a choice of black colour and stickers of three different colours are available. The 125 is almost 5 kg lighter than the older version of 125 and has a kerb weight of 118.5 kg, thus resulting in better performance and better economy. The bike has a single down tubed frame which are lighter than the double cradled frame.

The engine built here is based on the DTSi or Digital Twin Spark Ignition technology which is light and frugal. The Discover 125 comes with an air-cooled, SOHC, 4-stroke, single cylinder, DTS-i engine with a displacement of 124.6 cc which is capable to churn out 10.85 bhp of power at 8000 rpm and a peak torque of 10.8 Nm at 5500 rpm.

The 125 has an excellent ride quality of Bajaj standard. It's plush on good surfaces and absorbs bad roads extremely well too. With a wheelbase 1305 mm, the handling is good, but if you go very fast the bike can feel a bit wallowy. Bajaj Discover 125 scores a fuel efficiency of 70 kmpl.

The seats are comfortable and don't hurt even on longer drives.

Bajaj have carefully and skilfully used the best parts of the 100 cc and 150 cc and made the 125 Discover. And therefore it strikes a nice balance between the both. Pricing is also bang on in the 125 cc segment and takes on all the motorcycles in that segment head on.

The competition is against the Hero Honda Passion Plus and Splendor Plus.

With its easy and comfortable handling and mind blowing performance, the Bajaj Discover 125 has become immensely popular in the Indian bike market.

The Bajaj Discover 125 comes in the price range of Rs. 47,025 to 54,659 lakhs.
