"My Name Is Earl" Profile
My Name Is Earl follows dim-witted reprobate Earl Hickey, who was content to live a meager life of crime until several events changed his life: First, he won the lottery; then, he got hit by a car and lost his winning ticket; finally, while recuperating in the hospital, he learned about the concept of karma from a Carson Daly interview he saw on TV. After deciding to apply what he learned to his life, Earl rediscovered his lottery ticket and made a list of all the bad things he’d ever done, determined to make up for them and balance his karma.

History:
My Name Is Earl premiered in fall 2005 to positive reviews and strong ratings, and soon became an integral part of NBC’s rejuvenated comedy lineup. After declining ratings over time, NBC canceled the show following its fourth season in 2009.
